8/12/2002 - Round-up

Updated by dusustin at 08:01

For all you fellows that understand german, here is the excellent B.Tuned shoutcast of yesterdays final between Plan-B and Goodfellas. TsN has some problems with their FTP, I'll post as soon as that one gets uploaded.

The game was on Oasis, which showed itself being very suited for competition. Plan-B started attacking, through a maze of great defence by Goodfellas, and was finally able to set the time to about 11 minutes. And when Goodfellas was to beat that, they ran into a wall. Impressive teamplay, aim and tactics stopped them from even getting the flag (along with some lucky spawns), Goodfellas got denied.

Second round, Goodfellas had full time to get those damn guns blowned to smithereens. They were able to get the flag now, drain that damn water and blow the wall, and attacked the guns with full force. They were very close at times, blew up the northern gun and had one plant down on the southern, only to get it disarmed. It was very close tho, the engineer disarming it had a ticking grenade next to him. I thought that the shoutcasters were about to blow up at this moment, the action was immense.
However, it got disarmed, and Plan-B had 15 minutes to complete their objectives. Goodfellas put up a strong defence, and even though Plan-B got the flag rather fast, Goodfellas showed them that they have more then that in reserve. After tons of attacks, with respawns flying in, trying to attack from every angle possible, Plan-B got the plants down, rather close to eachother. Ggs were being exchanged, ze game ist over. Plan-B secured the first win in the Multiplay Enemy Territory Cup with an impressive win over Goodfellas.

As I see it, the main players in this game was panzer, mines and spawn. The Plan-B mines stopped Goodfellas good (even their own players at times), and rockets halted attacks very efficiently. There were immense action, was a pleasure to admin, so be sure to get it here.

As a last wording, I'd like to send my gratitude to everyone involved in this first season. To all the clans participating, thank you very much, it's been an honor having you on, we've had so many great games this first cup, and everyone has been friendly as hell. To all admins helping out, thanks! The cup has ran smoothly thanks to you. And last but not least, to the people helping us covering the events. Planetwolfenstein.de for hosting demos, Team Sportcast Central and B.Tuned for shoutcasting the games. I've been honored by your coverage, it was brilliant. And I hope that everyone is as exited as me of the season that is to come, the second MultiplayUK Enemy Territory Cup (I need to find a shorter name for that). We'll be testing and discussing with people from the scene, and I'll update you about how far we have come. And if you want to make your voice heard in the issue, head over to this forum thread. Express your opinions, even if it needs you to register first.

Be sure to hang in #multiplay.et to catch the latest updates, or just to have a general chat with us, and I hope to see you all again next cup!

Thanks!

[edit] Plan-B|vect0r notified me that they have a warreport up on their site as well. Go here if you wanna check it out (and if you understand german).

8/12/2002 - And you will know us by the trail of dead

Updated by dusustin at 06:01

And after all these weeks, with massive games coming from left to right, 2 clans has emerged standing up. 2 clans, whom both has beaten some of the best Europe can offer in Enemy Territory. It's been a great ride as far, and I am very impressed of the quality I have seen as far, but we aren't done yet.

MultiplayUK Enemy Territory Cup finals!
Goodfellas vs. Plan-B
Map will be Oasis with a 15 minute timelimit

Plan-B took the last spot in the finals by beating SSR with 2-0, and a demo can be found right here. It was a great game, with fast times being set by both clans, so be sure to watch it.

Regarding next weeks finals, we'll try to give you the best coverage that we can. TsN has already said that they are interested in covering the finals, and so are german shoutcasters b.tuned. I'll see what I can cook up, perhaps some predictions and interviews? Stay tuned, it all depends on how tired I am during nights :)

Updated by dusustin at 04:02

In an exiting game on radar, with fast times being set by both teams, Goodfellas was able to secure their spot for the finals with a 2-1 win vs Ping of Death. Stats from the game can be found here . Ggs both clans.

We're trying to arrange the second semifinal this week, I'll update you on the matter as fast as I am given info. I'll also post when demos and shoutcast has been uploaded. Big thanks to TsN for a quality shoutcast.

Very sad but semi finalist ACF dropped out of the cup, we will get a replacement team for them asap. Holidays and ISP problems prevented ACF from playing further.

7/12/2002 - Plan-B taking the last spot for the semis

Updated by dusustin at 21:02

In a great, exiting game, brilliantly shoutcasted by TsN|Bridger, Plan-B stole the last spot for the semifinals by beating Gunslingers 2-0. The game was closer then the score suggests tho, and the demo and shoutcast will be up shortly, I'll post when that happens.

This means the following.

Monday 28th July, 9pm CET
MPUK ET semifinals
Radars, 15 minute timelimit

Goodfellas vs Fov
ACF vs Plan-B

I'd like to thank TsN for the quality shoutcasting, plus Gunslingers and Plan-B for the great game. I hope that we can offer as good games and shoutcasting for the semis, but I have great comfort in that we will.

See you next week, goodnight.

7/12/2002 - To be or not to be

Updated by dusustin at 19:02

We are in the middle of the cup, and it's getting tighter and tighter. And since ET is a fairly new game, I decided to interview some of the players about how their experience has been as far. I'm doing this for several reasons, for joy, for interest, for research. As the game is young, we need input.

So we're interviewing the good people that has survived the great clans from previous rounds, in order to tap into their thoughts. First up was [ACF]Eisenhower, which you can read right here

7/12/2002 - Rescheduling

Updated by dusustin at 18:02

It has come to my attention that the fov vs goodfellas semifinal has to be rescheduled, alas I am delaying the cup for one week. I do this in order to get things back on track, and to have all semifinals played on the same date. The current schedule now looks as this:

Monday 21st July
Quarterfinal:
Gunslingers vs Plan-B on Goldrush

Monday 28th July
Semifinals:
fov vs goodfellas
ACF vs Gunslingers/Plan-B

Monday 4th August
Finals!

7/12/2002 - Demos

Updated by dusustin at 17:02

I'm just gonna make a small post about how I am impressed by the community. The demo of the broken vs fov game has been downloaded 1214 times as of this very moment, which according to GF_Ace (from planetwolfenstein.de) makes about 50GB of traffic. I'm really happy that our little cup gets this attention from the community, and that you appreciate us uploading the demos of the games. As for the Broken vs fov game, it is a very good demo to download as I was adminning it myself. Tons of great tactics, tons of great aim, so head to pw.de to get your piece of the action.

7/12/2002 - ACF vs. SSR Goldrush demo available

Updated by Lekdevil at 17:01

It seems our resident Planetwolfenstein.de liason is missing in action tonight, so I've uploaded the admin demo of last night's ACF vs. SSR match to a temporary web site.

Download it here (13.4 MB): ACF_SSR_Multiplayet_pov-admin.zip

If it's not there anymore, look at the regular Planetwolfenstein.de demo site.

Enjoy!

7/12/2002 - ACF proceeds to semis

Updated by dusustin at 16:02

In the third quarterfinal, ACF managed to win vs SSR with 2-0, and will now proceed to the semifinal. The only quarterfinal left now is Plan B vs Gunslingers, which will be played next monday together with the first semifinal between the two german clans fov and goodfellas. The map to be played in the semis is radars with a 15 minute timelimit.

Also, brackets are online (sorry for the late entry). They are very basic, but it atleast allows you to see the cuptree.

7/12/2002 - The germans move to the semis

Updated by dusustin at 15:02

German clans FOV and Goodfellas managed to fight their way to the semis, FOV by beating broken in a 3,5 hour match which ended 2-1, and Goodfellas by beating norwegian clan Instant Defeat with 2-0.

This wednesday SSR will face ACF, and Gunslingers will battle it out with Plan-B next monday (all due to unlucky chains of events). We wanted games to be played rather then forfeited, so we were a bit loose on the rules this time. This also mean that the semifinal vs SSR/ACF and GS/Plan-B will have to be rescheduled as well, which I will discuss with the clans when that time comes closer. It's a bit unlucky that this happened, and messes up the planning a bit, but it will hopefully be fixed rather easy, meaning that the final and game for 3rd place will still be on schedule.
